Mount Kenya Day Trip

The Mt. Kenya Day Trip is designed for the visitor who has limited time and who is not interested in reaching any of the summits. Mount Kenya Day Trip safari is tailored for those who are interested in seeing the fascinating vegetation zones of an equatorial mountain and the associated rich wildlife and birdlife that reside in the ecosystem.

Mount Kenya Day Trip safari departs from Naromoru town at 0800hrs after a briefing and equipment sorting by the guides. Thereafter, embark on a drive for 16 km to the park entry gate to the Mount Kenya national park. After a few minutes of photo taking and viewing of some wildlife such as bushbucks, waterbucks, baboons, and birdlife, board our 4×4 vehicles which drives up the road heading to the Naro Moru Track (altitude 3,000m Met. Station Camp).

The guides will do a short talk and explain more about the vegetation around the camp. You will be provided with packed lunch after which guides will set a leisurely pace for a refreshing trek up the mountain through different vegetation; from bamboo forest, hagenia trees to heather trees not to mention the be-fronting moorland covered by tussock grass and flowered cabbage roberias. Also, you will be able to experience the great views of the lowlands and Aberdare ranges. Along the way, you will enjoy the birdlife enriched forest and flowers on the high altitudes.

After 3- 4 hrs of ascending you will be on top of Teleki Valley where we have the picnic rocks in time for lunch (3,700m). Enjoy your packed lunch with good views.

After lunch, continue your stroll to the crest of the ridge at 4,000m. From this vantage point, you have a splendid view of the main peaks as well as the Teleki Valley.

Thereafter, descend to Met. Station (2-3hrs) where you’ll find our 4×4 vehicles waiting to transfer you back to the lodge for a hot shower and a well-earned rest.
