The Lakes in East Africa are either freshwater lakes or salty water lakes. For instance, Lake Victoria which is shared by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, is the second-largest freshwater lake in the world.

Lake Tanganyika in Tanzania, also a freshwater lake, is the second deepest lake in East Africa and the longest freshwater lake in the world.
