Do you travel for fun, adventure, holiday or business and have been doing so from Europe to Africa and vice-versa? Well, this time, that should be more convenient and with utmost comfort thanks to the recent new codeshare deal signed on 14th March 2019 between Kenya Airways and Italia’s largest airline, Alitalia.
In this new deal between Kenya Airways and Alitalia, who are also partner airlines in the SkyTeam alliance, travellers will get enhanced travel connections and flight schedules to central and southern Africa, and to Europe through Rome and Nairobi.
The new deal will also allow each airline’s code to be placed on the other carrier’s flights for instance, Alitalia will place its code on Kenya Airway’s flights beyond Nairobi to Mombasa and Kisumu in Kenya and also to a further 19 African destinations including Abidjan, Dar es Salaam, Addis Ababa, Accra and Douala. In the same manner, Kenya Airways will also expand its offer to Italy and Europe by placing its flight’s codes on Alitalia’s flights from Rome, Italy to 16 Italian domestic destinations.
As of today, the new codeshare flights are available for sale through the airlines’ reservation systems and in travel agencies, for travels from June 12th 2019 when Kenya Airways is expected to inaugurate its four-weekly service between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Fiumicino, Rome.
