Last Tuesday at Moi International Airport, Mombasa, the Private Safaris team proudly welcomed the inaugural direct charter flight from Budapest, Hungary, carrying 183 holidaymakers eager to experience Kenya’s beaches, safaris, and rich Swahili culture. The aircraft received a spectacular water cannon salute, marking a memorable arrival.

The weekly charter, operated by Smartwings in partnership with IBUSZ, brings high-value travelers from Eastern Europe directly to the Kenyan coast. Present at the historic welcome were Private Safaris CEO Mr. Alexander Spiro, Smartwings CEO Attila Farkas, KAA Board Chairman Hon. This milestone builds on a journey that began in 2021, when Private Safaris welcomed the first Romanian charter flight to Mombasa during COVID-19 — a moment that helped reignite hope and resilience in Kenya’s Coast tourism sector.

The new Budapest–Mombasa service is expected to operate weekly, all in all 9 Rotations, until March 2026, further strengthening East Africa’s global connectivity.
