What’s a Ferris Wheel?

A Ferris wheel is an amusement ride consisting of a rotating upright wheel with numerous passenger-carrying cabins attached to the rim in such a way that as the wheel rotates, the passengers in the cabins remain upright, usually by gravity.

On Thursday, March 28th 2018, in an event graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Centum Investment launched Africa’s largest Ferris wheel which is also Kenya’s largest observation wheel at Two Rivers mall in Nairobi. The 60-metre high wheel, dubbed ‘Eye of Kenya’ is meant to give visitors exceptional views of Nairobi City. It has 40 cabins spread out along its rim with each cabin allowing up to 6 passengers at a go and a ride lasting for 17 minutes. The wheel is the latest addition to the facility which features various amenities including theme parks.

You should probably include this spot on your wishlist next time you take to Nairobi on a city tour.
