Every Seedling Counts: Private Safaris Commits to Coastal Conservation.

On 25th July 2026, the Private Safaris Mombasa Team joined fellow conservation champions at Majaoni Creek, Mtwapa, for a meaningful mangrove tree planting initiative that highlighted the critical role mangrove ecosystems play in protecting Kenya’s coastline.

As part of our unwavering commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship, Private Safaris pledged to plant 100 mangrove seedlings through SKÅL International. This initiative reflects our belief that preserving the natural environments we proudly showcase is a shared responsibility and an integral part of our journey.

The day’s exercise was both humbling and rewarding. Participants ventured into the swampy creek, carefully navigating the deep, black mud while carrying and planting young mangrove seedlings. With trousers rolled up and feet sinking into the soft ground, each step demanded balance and determination. Working together, the team firmly secured each seedling into the muddy soil – embracing the challenge, despite the inevitable mud-covered hands and boots.

What began as a physically demanding activity soon became a powerful reminder that meaningful conservation often requires stepping beyond our comfort zones.
Mangrove forests are among the world’s most valuable coastal ecosystems. They serve as natural barriers against coastal erosion and storm surges, provide essential breeding grounds for fish and other marine life, improve water quality, and capture significant amounts of atmospheric carbon, making them powerful allies in the fight against climate change.
